It is a source of dietary fibre which on reaching the bowl is broken down by friendly bacteria into short chain fatty acids which help to generate the pH level. This is believed to improve the conditions for calcium absorption. The active ingredient in Osteoguard Synergy is a special long chain carbohydrate derived from inulin, a soluble fibre, that is naturally present in some vegetables, and in this product it is derived from chicory roots.

Dosage: Take 8g daily. 1 teaspoon = 4g.
If 8g causes flatulence* then reduce the dose to 4g and gradually build up. Be sure to drink at least 2 litres of fluids a day.

*If excessive flatulence is caused then reduce the dose and gradually build up. Flatulence is actually a positive sign that the soluble fibre is feeding he friendly bacteria in the bowel. As they consume the fibre a gas is produced which can lead to some flatulence at first, however this soon disappears.
