Gina 10mg Vaginal Tablets are a form of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for women over 50, who have not had a period for at least 1 year, experiencing post-menopause vaginal symptoms caused by oestrogen deficiency.
Post-menopause oestrogen deficiency can cause vaginal symptoms including dryness, soreness, burning, itching and painful intercourse, also known as vaginal atrophy (VA).
Gina contains a low dose of oestrogen (10mg Estradiol) which is applied to the vaginal wall, to treat the underlying cause of vaginal dryness. Symptom relief can be felt after 8 week of use and can continue to work with its continued use.

Before Use - To ensure that this product is suitable please consult your pharmacist before use. This will include medical history and symptoms.
Please include as much information as possible in the medical questionnaire regarding your symptoms and history of use when ordering this product for pharmacist review. The pharmacist may contact you via email or phone for further information if required.

During Treatment - For initial dose use 1 tablet daily for 2 weeks. Follow with a maintenance dose of 1 tablet twice a week leaving 3-4 days between each dose.
Review your treatment with your pharmacist regularly (every 3 months) and advise your doctor that you are using this product at your next routine appointment.

The use of HRT carries risks which need to be considered when deciding whether to start use or carry on treatment. Certain conditions may be aggravated during oestrogen treatment. These can be found outlined on the patient information leaflet enclosed and linked above.



Do not use this product if you:
  • are allergic (hypersensitive) to estradiol or any of the other ingredients listed
  • have or have ever had womb or ovarian cancer.
  • have had any vaginal or genital bleeding since your periods stopped due to the menopause.
  • have recent or suspected endometrial hyperplasia (or e.g. if you have been referred for an ultrasound of your womb and are waiting for the results).
  • have previously been treated with oestrogen only HRT (without progestogen) and you have not had your womb removed (hysterectomy).
  • have a current vaginal infection before starting treatment with Gina.
  • have any thickening, lump or scarring on your vulva.
  • have severe vaginal itching, or itchy patches or rash on your vulva.
  • have or have ever had breast cancer, or if you are suspected of having it.
  • have or have ever had a blood clot in a vein.
  • You have or have ever had a heart attack, stroke or angina.
  • have a blood clotting disorder.
  • You have or have ever had a liver disease and your liver function tests have not returned to normal.
  • You have a rare blood problem called ‘porphyria’, which is passed down in families (inherited).
Consult your doctor before use if you:
  • have a history of endometriosis.
  • have a history of excessive thickening of the womb lining.
  • are receiving any hormonal therapy, including tablets, gels or patches.
  • are switching from another vaginal oestrogen HRT.
Discontinue use immediately and seek prompt medical advice if you notice any of the following during treatment:
  • new vaginal bleeding, spotting or itching.
  • you have endometriosis and your symptoms have come back.
  • you develop any of the conditions listed in the above ‘Do not use’ section.
Seek prompt medical advice from your doctor if you notice:
  • yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes.
  • a large rise in your blood pressure (symptoms may include headache, tiredness, dizziness).
  • migraine-like headaches for the first time.
  • you become pregnant.
Ingredients:
Active ingredient: 10mg Estradiol (as estradiol hemihydrate) per tablet.
Other ingredients: : hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, maize starch and magnesium stearate. Film-coating contains: hypromellose and macrogol 6000.
