Jungle Formula manufacture a range of insect repellent products suited to protecting against mosquito, midge and other insect bites whether at home or abroad.

Many insect repellent products are made using active ingredients DEET or IR3535. DEET was originally used during World War II as a pesticide and is made from chemical N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide. DEET is the most common active ingredient in insect repellents. IR3535 is also synthetic and was used in Europe 20 years prior to its registration as an insect repellent active ingredient in 1999.

Jungle Formula products have specific formulations for different needs using their Insect Repellent Factor (IRF) rating. The higher the IRF, the better the protection against insect bites.
  • IRF 2 Sensitive Skin is ideal for sensitive or young skin, giving great protection without irritation for up to 6 hours.
  • IRF 3 Natural is made with 40% lemon eucalyptus oil rather than DEET or IR3535 and protects for up to 8 hours.
  • IRF 3 Medium is ideal for use by adults and children over 3, protecting for up to 8 hours.
  • IRF 4 Maximum is for use when visiting high disease-risk destinations, providing up to 12 hours defence.
Jungle Formula products can be used in conjunction with a sunscreen if the sunscreen is applied first and allowed to dry.
