Ametop Gel for topical anaesthesia which produces numbness of the skin. Ametop is used to relieve the pain when needles are inserted into a vein for giving an injection or taking a blood sample.

The active ingredient in Ametop is Tetracaine, this is the new name for amethocaine. The ingredient itself has not changed and is still at a strength of 4%w/w.
