Like Tyrosine, it is the precursor of Catecholamines which consist of Dopamine, Epinephrine (otherwise known as adrenalin) and Tyramine. It is metabolised primarily in the Liver. Normal metabolism of Phenylalanine requires Iron, Niacin, Vitamin B-6, Copper and Vitamin C. Like tyrosine, it is the precursor for the neurotransmitters called catecholamines (adrenaline, noradrenaline and dopamine). Phenylalanine is the starting material of several catecholamines and also of ubiquinone (Co-Enzyme Q10). It also plays a role in learning and memory. Disintegration time: Less than 1 hour. Dosage:1 capsule each day with water or fruit juice. Amino Acids are best taken half an hour before a meal or at bedtime. Do not take if pregnant or breast feeding. Caution: Not to be taken by phenylketonuria sufferers (PKU). Not to be used with MAO inhibitors (a type of anti-depressant medicine).
