Tyrosine is an essential amino acid that is able to cross the blood-brain barrier. Once in the brain, it is a precursor for the neurotransmitters dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine and epinephrine better known as adrenalin. These neurotransmitters are an important part of the body's sympathetic nervous system.

Amino acids are classified as either essential or non-essential. Essential amino acids cannot be synthesised in the body and must be obtained from the diet, whereas non-essential amino acids, whilst still essential for health, can be synthesised in the body and are therefore not classified as 'essential'.
Tyrosine is considered a non-essential amino acid because the body can make it from phenylalanine. It is important to brain nutrition because it is a precursor of the neurotransmitters - dopamine, adrenaline and noradrenaline. It also acts as a precursor for certain hormones, including thyroxine and for the major human pigment melanin.
As with all Lamberts amino acids, Lamberts L-Tyrosine is presented in its free-form for maximum absorption. Each capsule provides a full 500mg of L-Tyrosine.
Dosage: 1 to 4 capsules daily. It is preferable to take amino acids with fruit juice or water, rather than milk. An amino acid is best taken ½ hour before any meal or at bedtime.
Disintegration Time: Less than 30 minutes.
Caution: L-Tyrosine should not be used with MAO inhibitors (a type of anti-depressant medicine).
Caution: This product is not recommended for children or pregnant or lactating women.
