Vaginitis Vaginitis is the term given to an inflammation of the Vagina. Infections such as thrush, trichomonas and bacterial vaginosis are the most common cause of vaginitis but allergic reactions to products such as soap, perfume or rubber can also be responsible. Symptoms of vaginitis can be a change in both the colour and smell of discharge, an itching or burning sensation in the vagina and a discomfort in the vagina during intercourse or when urinating.
