Hair loss is a common problem affecting around three quarters of men and over half of all women.
Hair loss in men is known as male pattern baldness, because it tends to happen in one of a number of set patterns. Amazingly, scientists are still not sure exactly why this is. The most common theory is that is is caused by an increased sensitivity to the male sex hormones (DHT). Unfortunately this is hereditary and is passed on from generation to generation.
Hair loss in women is less common than in men, but still affects many women. It can be linked to Alopecia or Telogen Effluvium, although 1 in 4 women will find that their hair loss is hereditary.
