This product is intended as a non-adherent primary wound contact layer for covering a wound. ApiNate maintains a moist wound healing environment and may reduce or eliminate odours associated with malodorous wounds. Due to the osmotic action known to be associated with high levels of sugar, fluid will be drawn from the wound bed. May be used on partial and full thickness wounds including: Dry, Sloughy or Necrotic Wounds Leg Ulcers Burns Malodorous wounds Pressure Ulcers Bed Sores Surgical Wounds Graft Sites Contra-Indications: ApiNate contains a high level of glucose. However, no instance has been reported of increased levels of sugar in the bloodstream due to the use of honey in wounds. It is advisable to monitor the blood sugar levels of diabetic patients. Directions: Place dressing in contact with wound and any surrounding redness. Cover with a low absorbent secondary dressing and secure with a dressing retention bandage or film dressing.
