There is a growing body of evidence in the scientific literature that the eastern diet provides significantly more cell-protective plant nutrients than the western diet. One group of these beneficial plant compounds, known as isoflavones, has become increasingly popular because research indicates they may offer certain positive health effects, for women in particular. Isoflavones are members of the flavanoid family of plant materials and are found in high concentrations in soya beans.
Studies have found that soy isoflavones can reduce common menopause symptoms such as hot flushes and can increase bone density in women. Many menopausal and post-menopausal health problems may result from a lack of isoflavones in the typical Western diet.
Although study results are not entirely consistent, isoflavones from soy or red clover may be helpful for symptoms of menopause. Soya Isoflavones can also increase the estrogen activity. If during menopause the body's natural level of estrogen drops, isoflavones can compensate this by binding to the same receptor, thereby easing menopause symptoms as a result.
The level of isoflavones present present in supplements can be confusing as some companies label soya products as being all 'isoflavones.' This is never the case as the isoflavones are only ever present in the soya extract, at anything between 10%-30%. Lamberts however, accounts for this when listing the isoflavones level, so each tablet provides a full 50mg of pure isoflavones.
