What is Regaine Extra Strength for?

Regaine Extra Strength is designed to treat receding or thinning hair.

Should I use Regaine Regular Strength, or Regaine Extra Strength?

For men, we recommend using Regaine Extra Strength unless you have had a reaction to it and your scalp can only tolerate the Regular Strength version. The extra strength version just works far better. Women first try Regaine Regular Strength. If not results are seen after a appropriate period, progress to Regaine Extra Strength For Women.

How do I know if Regaine will work?

If your hair has been thinning or receding gradually over months or years, then Regaine Extra Strength is certainly worth a try. It will usually work. Thinning hair, or pattern baldness, is a condition that affects many men. Even though many years have been spent researching pattern baldness, nobody exactly knows the reasons behind it. It is thought to be related to a number of factors, including:
  • Poor blood circulation in the scalp.
  • The production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that affects the hair follicles.
  • General ageing and weakening.

Regaine was discovered in the 1980s. The drug Minoxidil was used to treat people with poor circulation, and it was theorised that these patients seemed to retain their hair better. The drug was turned into a scalp lotion and clinical trials were performed. These trials were a success, and Regaine was born.

In clinical trials, Regaine Extra Strength prevented hair loss in 80% of men. In addition, 60% of men showed some regrowth.

If your hair has suddenly been falling out over a period of a few days or a couple of weeks, then it's likely that you are suffering from some other condition and should see your doctor rather than buying Regaine.

Is Regaine Extra Strength the best treatment for my condition?

We highly recommend Regaine Extra Strength for thinning or receding hair. There is a "normal" strength Regaine, but this should only be used if you suffer from some form of reaction to Regaine Extra Strength. The extra-strength version is simply more powerful, containing 5% active ingredient (Minoxidil) rather than 2%.

Is Regaine Extra Strength suitable for women?

Regaine Extra Strength for women are available is a scalp foam treatment however it is recommended to start with Regaine for Women that is of a lower strength and has been widely successful on women.

When should I not use Regaine Extra Strength?

In the following circumstances:
  • If you are of the opposite sex as that stated on the Regaine extra strength product.
  • If your hair has fallen out suddenly, you should see your doctor.
  • Not suitable for use by Women or Men under 18 or over 65 years of age.
  • Do not use if you have high blood pressure or are having treatment for high blood pressure.

More about Regaine Extra Strength

The 3 months supply of Regaine Extra Strength (3x60ml) is our most popular size and strength of Regaine. Please note that though this is designed to be 3 months supply, you may find that you end up using slightly more or slightly less, depending on the size and location of the affected area of the scalp, and how you apply Regaine.

Some people, particularly those with wild hairstyles, may find it tricky to apply exactly the recommended dose with each application. The new Extra Strength Foam may be a better choice if you wish to continue styling your hair while using Regaine.
