Receding Male Hair (Male Pattern Baldness)Male Pattern Balding usually starts between the ages of 25 and 35, and accelerates as a man gets older. Alpecin Double Effect Shampoo:
Alpecin Double Effect Shampoo is good for receding hair for 3 main reasons.
The first reason is that it is an anti-dandruff shampoo. This is good for hair loss sufferers because anti-dandruff shampoos are specifically designed to clean the scalp thoroughly and remove dead skin cells. The ingredient used in Alpecin is called Salycilic acid, which gently breaks down the tough dead cells without damaging the living cells. This helps to prepare the scalp so that the Regaine can be absorbed without being blocked by dead skin on the scalp.
This second reason that this shampoo is good is that it contains caffeine, which has been shown in the laboratory to help protect hair follicles from hormone damage. The hormone in question is called Dihydrotestosterone. You can read all about this in our Alpecin Technical Guide.
The third reason why we recommend this shampoo for Regaine users is that none of the active ingredients are known to interfere with Regaine. In particular, it does not contain dimethicone. Dimethicone is a conditiong agent that coats the hair, but unfortunately also coats the scalp. Because Alpecin does not contain dimethicone, the scalp is very clean and ready for application of Regaine.
Some people do find Alpecin to be harsh. Our studies have shown that Alpecin Double Effect Shampoo is the gentlest of the Alpecin range, so if you have tried the regular Alpecin shampoo and found it to be too harsh, we recommend trying this double effect shampoo before giving up on Alpecin altogether. Dietary deficiencies are not the sole reason for hair loss, but may make the problem worse. Hair Loss Shampoos:
