Lamberts Nicotinamide 250mg, also known as Vitamin B3, is a water soluble nutrient and appears in several different forms, all of which can be referred to as niacin. One of the forms is nicotinamide, (synonymous with niacinamide) which is the form of niacin that is generally recommended for supplements. The chemical structure of niacin is similar to the amino acid trytophan and the human body can some niacin from trytophan. Niacin is most abundant in high protein foods such as meat, fish and nuts.

Niacin functions in over fifty metabolic reactions. It plays a key role in the following processes, all of which are important in the release of energy from macro-nutrients;
Glycolysis; the metabolic pathway that converts glucose.
The Krebs Cycle; a series of chemical reactions, which is of central importance in all living cells that use oxygen as part of cellular respiration.,
The Hexose Monophosphate Shunt; a process that generates NADPH and pentoses.
Nicotinamide is also needed in the deamination of amino acids, essential fatty acid metabolism and in the metabolism of fatty acids. By playing a role in the formation of red blood cells, steroids and in the energy production within the cells, niacin is vital in maintaining the integrity of all body cells.
Dosage: 1 to 2 tablets daily.
