Imodium Instant Melts work in exactly the same as original Imodium, but are handy to carry around as you do not have to drink water with them. Instead, they melt instantly on the tongue and as a bonus have a nice minty flavour!
Imodium Instant Melts are useful for treating the following conditions:- For diarrhoea, Imodium Instant Melts are a handy alternative to Original Imodium - they have exactly the same active ingredient (loperamide). In addition, Imodium Instant Melts do not need to be taken with water, which is especially useful if you are somewhere where you do not trust the water supply!
- For episodes of diarrhoea associated with IBS. As this can happen suddenly, it is useful to carry a pack of Imodium Instant Melts with you just in case. You can take a tablet whenever you have an attack, even if you do not have a drink of water with you.
The active ingredient in Imodium Instant Melts is loperamide, which works by slowing down the activity of the bowel.
Directions for use: after the initial attack of diarrhoea, place 2 tablets on the tongue and allow to dissolve. If symptoms persist and you are still suffering from loose stools, take 1 tablet after each episode. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.
Imodium Instant Melts are not for use for children under 12. Do not use if pregnant or breast-feeding.
Note that although Imodium Instant Melts do not need to be taken with water, it is important to drink plenty of fluids whenever you have diarrhoea, to replace any fluids lost in the stools. You may like to try taking Dioralyte in conjunction with Imodium to help maintain the body's fluid balance.
Note that "Imodium Instant Melts" (12-pack) is exactly the same product as Imodium Instants (6-pack): for legal reasons, the larger pack size needs to have a different name because it can only be sold in licensed pharmacies such as Express Chemist.
