Flomax Relief MR is an over-the-counter, once-daily treatment for the lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men between 45 - 75 years.Previously only available on prescription, Flomax Relief MR is the UK's most widely used treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-malignant overgrowth of cells in the prostate gland.
The overgrowth caused by BPH enlarges the prostate, which in turn obstructs the urethra and makes it difficult to pass urine effectively. The symptoms associated with BPH can have a significant impact on the sufferers quality of life. Interrupted sleep patterns can lead to tiredness and irritability; the frequent need to urinate can cause anxiety and embarrassment, and sexual health can suffer as a result of BPH associated erectile dysfunction.
Flomax Relief MR contains the active ingredient tamsulosin hydrochloride 0.4mg, an alpha-adrenocepter antagonist or alpha-blocker. Flomax Relief MR works by relaxing muscles in the prostate and urethra and allowing a more normal flow of urine.
It effectively relieves:- frequent night-time urinating
- the urge to urinate every few hours
- a weak flow and feeling of unfinished urinating.
Taking Flomax Relief MR:- take one capsule each day
- take it at the same time each day, after a meal
- swallow the capsule whole with water
- do not crush, chew, or open the capsules.
Ingredients: (Per capsule) tamsulosin hydrochloride 0.4mg, microcrystalline cellulose, methacrylic acid-ethyl acrylate copolymer, polysorbate, sodium laurilsulfate, triacetin, calcium stearate and talc. The capsule shells contain: gelatin and the colourings E132, E171, E172.

Flomax Relief MR 14 capsules is the initial course of treatment that everyone should begin with. Once you have completed the initial 14 day course, if you believe Flomax Relief has relieved your symptoms and would like to continue using it, you can request a 4 week supply. A further symptoms and side-effects review must take place to determine your suitability for the treatment, which will once again be at the pharmacist's discretion. You will also be reminded to visit your GP for confirmation of a diagnosis of BPH.
Please note that if you have already purchased a 6 week supply of Flomax Relief MR you will need to seek confirmation from your GP that is is safe to continue taking the medication for your symptoms. Please make a note in the pharmacy questions at the time of ordering if your GP has deemed it safe to continue treatment.
