Express Chemist Body Mass Index Calculator

The Body Mass Index (BMI) scale is a rough indication of how healthy your body weight is. A "normal" BMI is roughly between 18 and 25. Anything below 18 is generally considered underweight, and anything above 25 is usually considered overweight. Most people with a BMI of over 28 are considered to be at risk of illnesses associated with being overweight. The new treatment, Alli, is designed to treat people with a BMI of 28 or over.

To work out your Body Mass Index, please fill out your height and weight into the calculator below. You can enter metric measurements, imperial measurements or any combination of the two.

Important

Your BMI is only a rough indication of your body's health. In particular, it cannot differentiate between fat and any other body tissues: it just considers total weight. For example, if you are an athlete or championship bodybuilder, for example, it's possible to be considered "overweight" according your BMI even though your body is carrying excessive muscle rather than excessive fat.

For most normal people, however, BMI is a reasonably good indicator of whether or not you are likely to be overweight.

You can only purchase Alli if your BMI is 28 or more, measured by using the calculator above.
