Gres

Madame Gres, a fashion designer, opened her first shop in Paris in 1934. Originally training as a sculptor Madame Gres used sculptural methodologies to create her clothing, working directly onto the bodies of models.

By 1939 she had gained worldwide notoriety after her creations were exhibited at the International Exposition in Paris where she was awarded first prize.

Gres soon came to be identified with high fashion, gaining the epithet 'The Star of Elegance' and was commissioned by royalty, aristocracy and the celebrities of her time.

Despite selling her perfume business in 1982, original Gres perfumes such as her debut Cabochard are still in production and with more modern fragrances released since her death in 1993 the name of Madame Gres lives on.
