Xtritica Healthchex CHO+ (Cholesterol & HDL Cholesterol Tests)

Determine your risk of heart disease in 12 minutes
  • Two simple to use blood tests for heart disease assessment.
  • Measures the level of cholesterol (lipids/fats) found in the blood.
  • High results will need to be discussed with your doctor.
Kit contains:
  • 1x individually wrapped, single use test for total cholesterol in a whole blood sample.
  • 1x individually wrapped single use test for HDL-Cholesterol in a whole blood sample.
  • 2x Single use lancets (finger pricking device).
  • Adhesive plaster.
  • 1x result chart for both tests.
  • Full instruction leaflet.

  • HDL is the abbreviation for High-density lipoprotein. HDLs are found in the blood stream, bind to cholesterol and actively transport it back to the liver. Cholesterol bound as HDLs are sometimes called "good cholesterol". This is because cholesterol is being re-processed instead of gradually building up in the arteries. In a normal adult, approximately 30% cholesterol becomes attached to HDLs and is safely taken away.

The purpose of the two tests are to evaluate the level of cholesterol in the blood in total and also to evaluate the level of HDL in the blood. High cholesterol can lead to heart disease as can low HDL levels. This is because even less cholesterol is being transported back to the liver.

    Using the Healthchex CHO+ Kit

The results of this test a purely for risk assessment and not are not conclusive.

A small blood sample is needed for each test. When the blood sample is activated, 12 minutes of time will pass until the results should be read. A visible colour develops on the test pallet that can then be compared to the colour table enclosed.

Full instructions are provided in the kit, with directions on how to provide a blood sample and how to use both tests effectively.

    Important!
    - Not for use haemophiliacs or those taking blood thinning medicines.
    - If you are unsure about any part of the test, there is a medical helpline phone number provided on the packet.
    - Do not ingest.
    - For in-vitro use only.
    - Store at room temperature and out of direct sunlight.
    - Read the instructions carefully and fully before using the kit.
