Savlon Advanced Healing Gel.- For the treatment of minor burns and small wounds.

Savlon Advanced Healing Gel, much like the Savlon Advanced Plaster, contains a special hydrocolloid (pH 5.5) that has been specifically designed to create a moist environment for wounds to heal and to speed up cell renewal. This increased cell renewal helps to reduce scarring. The second property of Savlon Healing Gel is that it cools the area and relives the associated pain.
This Advanced Healing Gel is suitable to treat cuts, grazes, shallow open wounds, bed sores (with the supervision of a nurse) and superficial burns. The hydrocolloid within Savlon Healing Gel, is designed to balance out the right amount of moisture in a wound, for optimal healing. If a wound is dry, Savlon Healing Gel can turn it moist by allowing the skin to soak in the water from the gel. This softens the damaged tissue which allows for speedier healing. When a wound is already moist, the hydrocolloid in the gel acts in the opposite way and absorbs any excess water in the wound which restores the water balance, allowing the skin to repair itself.
Directions:
The first most important thing to do before you apply the Healing Gel, is to clean the wound, preferably with an antiseptic cleanser or with warm water.
Please Note - Do not apply the gel to the wound if an infection is present or the wound is weeping.
Treating Burns and minor wounds (cuts and grazes): Clean and dry the wound. Apply the gel across the effected area 1 or 2 times a day. If you are sun burnt, smooth in up to 6 times a day.Treating open wounds and bed sores (Please note, Savlon Healing Gel is not suitable for wounds that are deep and have broken through the dermis): Gently apply a thick layer of gel (about 5mm) directly on to the wound. Then carefully cover the area with a sterile, non-adhesive (no sticky backing) and hold with gauze, strapping and/or a bandage. Maintaining the wound: Change the bandages every day or 2 days. As the wound starts to repair and is beginning to close, only apply a thin layer of the gel. To remove the dressing and the gel, wash hands and then rinse area with warm water and wipe off the gel with a wet gauze.
Important!
Do not:Swallow.use on infected or weeping wounds.use on the eyelids and avoid contact with eyes altogether.Apply this product if you know you are allergic to any of the ingredients listed (see below).use if you begin to experience swelling, reddening or pain after a few days use.use if you are pregnant or breast feeding - consult with your doctor first.
