Promethazine Hydrochloride 10 mg Tablets, belongs to a group of medicines known as phenothiazines they work by blocking a substance called histamine that your body makes during an allergic reaction. It also works directly on the brain to help you feel more relaxed.

• To treat allergic conditions, such as hay fever or rashes.
• To treat adults with short-term difficulty sleeping (insomnia).
• To treat or prevent you feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting), such as in travel sickness.

Directions:

As an Antihistamine in allergy:

Children 2-5 years	The use of Promethazine liquid is recommended for this age group.
Children 5-10 years	A single dose of either 1 or 2 tablets at night. Or 1 tablet twice a day. Dose must not exceed 2 tablets per day.
Children over 10 years and adults	Start with 1 tablet twice a day. This may be increased to a maximum of two tablets three times a day

As an Antiemetic:

children 2-5 years	The use of Promethazine liquid is recommended for this age group.
Children 5-10 years	1 tablet the night before the journey. This may be repeated after 6-8 hours if necessary.
Children over 10 years and adults	2 tablets the night before the journey. This may be repeated after 6-8 hours if necessary.

Short term sedation:

Children aged 2-5 years	the use of Promethazine is not recommended for this age group.
Children 5-10 years	2 tablets as a single dose at night time.
Children over 10 years and adults	2-5 tablets as a single dose at night time.

Ingredients:
Each sugar-coated tablet contains: Promethazine hydrochloride 10mg. Also contains lactose and sucrose.

Warning:
Do not exceed the stated dose. May cause drowsiness. If affected do not drive or operate machinery. Avoid alcoholic drink. Promethazine should not be used for more than 7 days without seeking medical advice.
