The B group of Vitamins is a collection of essential nutrients that have certain characteristics in common. They are all water soluble and they are found in food sources such as Brewer's Yeast, Meat, Wholegrains, Cereals and Vegetable Proteins

Whilst chemically distinct from one another, the ways in which the B Vitamins work in the body are closely interrelated. Folic Acid and Vitamin B-12 metabolisms are closely connected. Vitamin B-2 is required for the activation of Vitamin B-6; and Vitamin B-3 can be manufactured from other dietary agents provided there is adequate Vitamin B-6.

The B complex functions in the body as a group of Vitamins. They are essential for the release of energy from food and vital for the metabolism of Fats and Protein. The group contributes to the maintenance of healthy skin, hair, eyes, mouth, liver function and the production of Haemoglobin. Correct functioning of the Brain and Nervous System requires B complex Vitamins to be available regularly from the diet.

This complex may be favoured by:-

  • those with poor dietary intake, and those who generally eat junk fast food.
  • the elderly or those on a reduced diet.
  • convalescents to make up leeway in their nutrition.
  • anyone with a demanding lifestyle and irregular eating habits.
  • heavy drinkers.
