About VagisilVagisil is a licensed pharmacy treatment for vaginal itching. It contains lidocaine, which is an anaesthetic that soothes skin irritation.
Vagisil provides relief from the following symptoms: an itchy vagina (minor), vaginal burning and surrounding irritation of the skin. By applying Vagisil, the vagina is cooled, soothed and relieved. Vagisil also helps prevent further irritation by reducing the urge to scratch.How to use VagisilFor adults and children over 12 years of age: Apply a small strip to the affected area 3 or 4 times daily.Do not:
- Use Vagisil for over a week.
- Use Vagisil on large body parts and the eyes.
- Use on children under 12 years of age.
- Use Vagisil if pregnant, without consulting your doctor first.
- Use orally. Vagisil - ingredientsVagisil is a cream that comes in a 30g aluminium, pierce-top tube, containing: Lidocaine 2% w/w, Triclosan 0.2% w/w. Vagisil Cream has been specifically designed to calm vaginal itching. The first active ingredient in Vagisil is Lidocaine (2%) which is a mild anaesthetic. This will slightly numb the skin which helps to ease the discomfort. The second active ingredient of Vagisil is Triclosan (0.2%) which is commonly found in antibacterial body washes, toothpastes, and many other everyday toiletries. Triclosan is added to help reduce and control bacterial growth and can benefit those suffering with Bacterial Vaginosis.
