In Western countries, coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death. An elevated blood cholesterol level is one of the major risk factors for coronary heart disease.
Cholesterol is a waxy fat like chemical, an essential component of certain hormone, digestive acids and body structures produced naturally by the liver. Excess cholesterol may lead to coronary heart disease causing blocking of the arteries.
This home screening product enables the user to estimate total cholesterol. A small blood sample is required for each test in order to produce a chemical reaction this results in the production of a visible colour developing, allowing direct reading of the test result using scale detailed on to the test platform.
