Polytar

Polytar is a medicated scalp cleanser containing tar blend for the treatment of scaling scalp disorders including seborrhoeic dermatitis, psoriasis and dandruff.
Polytar is based on the ingredient coal tar, which by reduces itching and acts as a mild antiseptic. It also acts as a keratolytic agent - that is, it breaks down keratin. Keratin is a protein that forms part of the skin structure and can cause thickening of the skin when in excess. Keratolytic agents, such as coal tar, therefore help to reduce the excessive hardening, thickening and scaling of the skin.
All products in the Polytar range contain coal tar.
