Itching (Pruritus) is a very common symptom to experience, but that doesn't mean that it can't be uncomfortable, irritating and inconvenient, especially if you constantly feel the need to scratch. It can affect any area of the body and may often produce a rash or a spot.
Common causes of itching include eczema, psoriasis, dandruff, lice, scabies, threadworms, haemorrhoids, fungal infections, insect bites, sunburn and prickly heat.
Itching can also be a sign of more serious conditions so any instances where the itch is severe, prolonged or recurring should be referred to your GP.
